Xenon Lamp (High intensity Discharge lamp) refers to the halogen light fixtures filled with inert gas mixture including Xenon, without the filament of halogen Lamp (High intensity Discharge (HID), referred to as HID xenon lamp xenon Lamp, which can be called metal halide lamp or xenon Lamp, it is divided into xenon light for vehicles xenon lamp and outdoor lighting xenon lamp.
Xenon lamp, it is also called HID gas discharge headlamp in the field of automobile lamp. It is to replace traditional tungsten wire with high-pressure xenon wrapped in quartz tube, providing higher color temperature and more concentrated lighting. Xenon lamp is a beam of electric arc light formed by activating xenon gas with high voltage current, which can continuously discharge and emit light between the two electrodes. The power of tungsten bulb in ordinary cars reaches 55W, while xenon lamp only needs 35W, which is reduced by nearly half. Xenon lamp can significantly reduce the burden of vehicle power system. The color temperature of car xenon lamp is between 4000K-6000K, which is much higher than that of ordinary headlight bulbs. Its brightness is high, and xenon lamp of the light color of 4300K is white yellowish. Due to the low color temperature, the visual effect is yellowish, and the penetrating power of light is stronger than that of lights with high color temperature, the driving safety at night and a foggy day can be improved.
It was first applied to air transportation. There are two categories of xenon lamp widely used on the market, one is car lighting and the other is motorcycle lighting. However, it has been used on cars in large quantities for more than ten years. It was developed by Hella company in the early 90's. Xenon lamp due to its high technical content, it is more expensive than ordinary incandescent lamp.
 
Luminous principle
The luminous principle of Xenon lamp is to fill the UV-cut UV-resistant crystal quartz glass tube with a variety of chemical gases, most of which are Xenon and iodide, and then pass through the Supercharger (Ballast) the 12-volt DC voltage of the vehicle is instantly pressurized to a voltage of 23000-Volt, and xenon electrons in the quartz tube are excited to free through the high-voltage seismic amplitude to generate a light source between the two electrodes, this is the so-called gas discharge. However, the White ultra-strong arc light generated by xenon can improve the color temperature of the light, which is similar to the solar light in the daytime. The amount of electricity required by HID during work is only 3.5A, the brightness is three times that of traditional halogen bulbs, and the service life is 10 times longer than that of traditional halogen bulbs.
Component
HID xenon lamp generally consists of lamp holder (xenon bulb), electronic ballast (also called high intensity discharge, voltage regulator, firecow, etc.), Wire control box, etc:
1. Lamp holder: If you observe carefully, you will find that there is no filament for HID xenon lamp heads. Electric current is generated between electrodes to promote xenon molecular collision to generate brightness, there is no problem of tungsten wire burning (those with tungsten wire cannot be called xenon lamp);
Second, program-controlled high intensity discharge: using the DC voltage of 12V battery, after a series of conversion, control, protection, boost, frequency conversion and other actions, an instant 23000V ignition high voltage is generated to ignite the lamp holder, after lighting, the AC voltage of 85V is maintained, and the starting current is about 8A and about work current 4A. In 2013, the most intelligent electronic ballast on the market was "program-controlled high intensity discharge", which adopted modern computer technology to compile specific programs and implant chips to control circuits to complete detection, calculation and automatic matching xenon lamp, so that the matching between the two can achieve the best working performance.
Third, wire group: it is generally made of flame retardant materials. Plus-sized the cross-sectional area of the power cord, it improves the current passing capacity and ensures the normal operation of HID xenon lamp, part H4 model xenon lamp is equipped with relay wire Group for working control.

Bulb Type
Xenon lamp models can be divided into three series according to bulb: 900 series, H series and D series. (D series is usually lens series)
900 series of 9004\9005\9006\9007.H series of H1\H3\H7\H8\H11\H4.D series of D1\D2\D4. These models correspond to the ordinary headlight bulb models of automobiles. There is also a kind of car headlight modification, which is called with lens/Angel Eyes, which is a kind of modification xenon lamp. The lens has a good spotlight on the headlight, but the modified headlight seal is not very good. Angel Eyes play a decorative effect and are not practical. In Europe, lenses and headlight cleaning devices that meet the quality standards and meet the requirements must be used at the same time when using xenon lamp bubbles. This is to prevent the potential safety hazards caused by improper use of xenon headlights for driving. There are no relevant laws and regulations in China, but it is still recommended to match at least the corresponding lens when modifying xenon headlights and carry out corresponding debugging.
Lamp holder model
The HID model corresponds to the halogen bulb one by one, that is, what model is the original halogen bulb? When modifying HID, you also need to use the same model.
H series: H1, H3, H4, H6, H7, H8, H9, H10, H11, H13, etc;
90 series: 9004(HB1), 9005(HB3), 9006(HB4), 9007(HB5), etc;
D series: D1S, D1C, D1R, D2R, D1C, D2C, D3C, D4C, etc;
Others: 880, 881
H1, H4, H7, 9005, 9006, 9007 and other models are widely used in automobile HID.
H4, H13, 9004, 9007 these four models, the original halogen bulb has two tungsten wires, one is far lamp, the other is near lamp, however, since xenon lamp cannot achieve near and high beam in a lamp tube, there are four series, such as H (also known as single lamp, and only high beam or low beam immediately). Under high temperature and heat, it is easy to burn out, and the average life span is only 250 hours; HID light is to use gas discharge to emit light, without tungsten wire, it is not easy to damage. H4-3, H13-3, 9004-3, 9007-3 and H4-H/L, H13-H/L, 9004-H/L, 9007-H/L models xenon lamp are all xenon lamp of the combination of far and near light; where H/L is High/Low.
